"Why do you offer art prints in your shop?"
This was actually how I started to paint with watercolour. Creating custom wall art gifts for friends and family when I had to attend a kitchen tea or a baby shower. Making something special for someone with my hands that they could enjoy in their home was a thoughtful way to celebrate a wonderful moment in their life.
Painting and offering originals was not a very sustainable way to run Carlita Hearts when I was working full-time so I started out by offering printable art prints. Some customers then approached me for physical prints so I started offering my art in a tangible format that would be frame-ready when their orders arrived at their homes.
I think art prints are an affordable way to support a local artist, cheer on hand made creativity and showcase some beautiful art in your home, as opposed to offering original art only, which can be an investment.
Â
Art has this wonderful ability to transform a very blank space into something that feels homely, personalised and depending on the art, a certain feeling you want to evoke in your space. It invites one to pause and admire which I think is so needed in this busy world.
Â
Did you know that viewing art can help reduce stress and improve one's mental health? It is so fascinating to read about the impact viewing art can have on one's brain. There are some interesting neurological benefits to slowing down and taking in a piece of art. What an incredible thought that our homes, our cosy spaces can offer soothing opportunities if you consider including art in your home like it's your own personal art gallery.
Â
Whether it's a gallery wall where you can mix art and personal photographs, or an open shelf, there's a space in every home for art. Something made with an intriguing story behind it and created with joyful hands that paid careful attention to making marks on a page or canvas.
One thing I do get asked is whether I offer originals. I don't offer originals at this point but I would like to create a small, framed collection to offer to art collectors. Limited commission slots and art prints are what I currently offer, but I am thinking of offering a handful of framed original art pieces. I think that would be so fun and so special to have others enjoy a one of a kind piece!
